ROXIE Workshop on the Go Layouts & Cards

Here are my latest creations using the Roxie Workshop on the Go kit! It will be the last kit in the Fall/Winter rotation because, as of February 1st, the 2012 Spring/Summer Idea Book will go "live" and we will start on a new rotation of kits through the end of July 2012.  I kind of feel like I have saved the best for last because I like this kit so much. I hope you enjoy what I have come up with and I would welcome your comments if you would like to leave me one below!

I wanted to make this an interactive layout, so for inspiration I thumbed through one of my favorite How-To Books... Magic . Through it's pages I ran across how to make a "card slide" that was part of the On with the Show pattern. I took that card slide idea and coupled it with a different pattern from the book... the Transfigure pattern...and below is the outcome!

To reveal hidden journal and photo areas, just pull the tab to the left and a hidden pulley system below the photo allows for these two areas to slide out in different directions! Pretty neat, huh?
Tip:Create simple journal areas by using dry embossed lines.
As with all of the Workshop on the Go kits, there are always embellishment items that seem to be designed specifically for the paper packet that comes with it. In this case, it's the 10 Things Pocket. This sturdy pocket can be placed anywhere and comes conveniently with 10 numbered 5" x 3/4" strips. To make creating with this even easier, there is always the C1474 10 Things My Acrylix stamp set that was designed to match it perfectly, too!

Below are the items that were used to create with this kit.

G1025 Roxie Workshop on the Go $29.95
Roxie My Acrylix Stamp set ($13.95)
X7140B Roxie Level 2 Paper Packet (9.95)
Z1466 Bling Assortment ($4.95)
Z282 Black Hemp ($2.25)
2 Sheets Colonial White CS ($1.00)
Roxie Workshop Guide ($1.00)

Additional items:
Z1412 10 Things Pocket ($3.95)
Z1615 Designer Ribbon ($5.95)

Additional items used:
(These items are provided for you to use during the class at no additional charge. However, since these items work perfectly with the WOTG kit, you may want to add them to your kit so you can create on your own after our time together.)
C1474 10 Things My Acrylix stamps ($13.95)
Z2118 Desert Sand Ink ($5.25)
Z2166 Tulip Ink  ($5.25)
Z2105 Black Ink  ($5.25)
Z2196 Smoothie Ink ($5.25)

I applied the same interactive technique used on the Roxie layout (above) to this first card that you see. I love the fact that the "10 things" are tucked away on the front of the card, providing extra space on the inside to write an additional personal message.

One thing that I feel comfortable doing with some of the My Acrylix stamp images is to carefully cut them apart, allowing me to have the separate sections available to use how I see fit. The image in this instance was one that said "I miss about you" from the C1474 10 Things stamp set. By cutting the words apart, I was able to place the images where I wanted them on the card, all the while omitting the word "about". After I was done using them, I was able to neatly put them back on their carrier sheet just like they came and no harm was done.

I achieved the look that I was looking for by adding woven, diagonal strips of patterned paper on top of a piece of the same patterned paper, creating a fast and simple lattice look.

This rose was stamped twice, using only a part of one of the images to pop up on the second to create a 3-D flower.

This last card was inspired by a gorgeous card that I received around Christmastime from Jeanette Lynton (Founder/CEO of Close To My Heart). Instead of having a top fold or side fold card base, this card has a sealed sleeve that the inside message slides out from.

I hope you enjoyed the ideas that I've shared today. New classes are about to start, so if you are interested in joining one or more of my monthly classes, please contact me as I would love to have you join us. Or, please feel free to leave me a message by clicking on the "comment" button below. I'd love to hear from you!

  1. Hi Sis. Beautiful layouts as usual....I'll be stealing at least three of the ideas! Love and miss you!

  2. Thanks sis! I'm glad I could inspire you!:-)

  3. I love the lattice and the rose idea. Good stuff!

  4. Thanks! The lattice is so easy to make, too. I'm sure that I will use that idea again.

  5. Love the elegant pages! Brilliant combination of two interactive layouts for one splendid Roxie two page spread. I can't wait to use the lattice on a card.

  6. Thanks Laura! If you make any cards with the Roxie scraps that you have...please bring them when we get together. I love seeing what you come up with.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a message!
